Montieth is the President of Montieth & Company, a global special situations communications consultancy. Montieth & Company provides corporate and financial, marketing communications, issues and crisis management solutions and services and is widely regarded as expert in litigation PR. The firm has worked on many of the biggest headline matters in the news, from the Madoff Fraud to the BP Oil Spill, the Department of Justice’s insider trading investigation, and the Panama Papers, amongst many other high profile engagements. Montieth & Company works with numerous high net worth individuals and family offices globally, providing management advisory, communications, thought leadership and media relations support on a wide range of matters including M&A, business disputes, shareholder activism, management transitions, IR, public affairs, regulatory actions and litigation, civil and criminal. 

 Montieth & Company operates through a ‘Centers of Excellence’ professional services model with offices in New York and London from which it projects its solutions and services into numerous money and media center markets throughout North and South America, Europe, and the Middle East, directly and through partners.

Montieth M. Illingworth founded the firm in 2006. Prior to that he was head of office and ran the US operations of Gavin Anderson, a global special situations consultancy. He was also practice leader of the global corporate strategies group of Ruder Finn, one of the world’s largest independent PR agencies. Prior to that he was head of the e-business communications practice at Technology Solutions International. Montieth started in PR in 1995 at Development Counsellors International in New York representing governments worldwide on economic development marketing and media relations.

He began his career as a journalist and financial writer in New York and Los Angeles. He wrote for The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, the American Banker, and numerous other national and international publications. He is also author of “Mike Tyson: Money, Myth, and Betrayal” a biography of the former heavyweight champion. 

Montieth is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Journalism and Trinity College at the University of Toronto. He lives with his wife and family in Westchester County, NY and is an avid cyclist and fly fisherman.
